Created in Adobe After Effects and Procreate.

BACKGROUND
For a branded motion design assignment, the brief was to create an animated sequence for a type of media I am passionate about. I decided to create a mock animated TV show title sequence featuring one of my reoccurring characters. The premise of the intro focuses on the main character being a thief, showing her stealing and shooting guns. My vision for this fake TV show sequence was to promote to the viewer that they are about to watch an elusive and thrilling show.
"Vogue Rogues" follows heist leader Persici, who it depicted solely in the opening title sequence, along with her crew, Itzal, Lazti, and Tai. Persici's ex boyfriend Lau also tags along every now and then. A typical episode would follow the characters planning a heist, butting heads along the way, running into recurring enemies and side characters, while also touching on each of the characters pasts, and how they got into the business of bank robbing. This story has been a creative project for myself, having developed these characters and their setting quite a few years ago.
I created this motion graphic using assets I had drawn in Procreate, then exported to in After Effects. In hindsight I should have executed more vector elements, as the rasterised assets tended to look rather blurry, especially on some close-up shots of the assets. Having little familiarity with After Effects before this assignment I was eager to learn how the program functioned, and have since come to painfully love the ins and outs of the software, despite the steep learning curve.
The song used in the animation is Girl God Gun by Gen and the Degenerates. Audio is a big factor in creating animation for me, as I tend to visualise entire animated sequences when listening to music, which inspires me to create them.
